Hush Hushpuppies

This handy Hush Puppy Mix makes the crispiest, most delicious Hush Puppies you will ever taste, and they are perfect to go alongside fried fish.

  • 2 cups Hush Puppy Mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 Tbl Small diced onion
  • 1/8 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/8 tsp Cayenne
  • ¼   tsp Onion Powder
  • Pinch of Salt


Place the hush puppy mix, eggs, and buttermilk in a large bowl. Mix with a fork just until smooth. Set aside.

Place enough oil in a large, heavy pot to measure 3 inches deep. Heat over medium-high until the oil is quite hot, 365 degrees. Spoon generous tablespoons into the hot oil. Cook, turning once, until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Makes 18 hush puppies.
