Here at The Old Mill, our idea of all-American summer fun extends beyond beach vacations, neighborhood block parties and Fourth of July fireworks. It also means slowing down and taking time to relish simple pleasures with loved ones. And making the kind of memories we’ll be talking about for years to come.
Summer Fun, American Style
All month long, we’re celebrating the All-American Summer. We’re offering special treats and activities to show you what we mean. Not just at our little piece of Southern paradise in Pigeon Forge, but on our website, too.
We’ll salute our local farmers by featuring their fresh-picked produce like tomatoes, okra and blueberries, in menu specials and small-batch preserves. We’re also offering fudge, chocolate-dipped strawberries and fresh-pulled taffy in colors of red, white, and blue.
Check out our complete July schedule:
29th Annual Patriot Festival
Join us for Pigeon Forge’s 29th annual Fourth of July Party, the Patriot Festival. This free event is held in Patriot Park, directly across from The Old Mill. Food booths and a Kids’ Karnival open at 2 p.m., and beginning at 4 p.m., live bands take the stage, including:
- Whiskey Icarus
- Pigeon Forge Community Chorus
- Brad Hudson Band
- Free Falling (a Tom Petty Tribute Band)
- Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives
Learn more about the schedule at mypigeonforge.com. After the fireworks, join us at The Old Mill Creamery for an ice cream cone — we’ll be dipping until 11 p.m.
Skipping rocks is time-honored summer fun. If you’ve never learned — or you want to hone your craft — join us Mondays from 10-10:45 a.m., and Wednesdays from 4-4:45 p.m., at the Mill Pond. We’ll be rock-skipping every Monday and Wednesday in July starting July 3.

And while you’re there, don’t forget to enter for a chance to win one of our weekly prize drawings.
Kids 12 and under, be sure to stop by on Wednesday from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Kids who recite the Pledge of Allegiance from memory will receive a free single cone or cup of their choice.
Storytelling at The Gazebo
The Old Mill has a rich and fascinating history that dates back 200 years. Let our resident historian, Jimmy Proffitt, regale you with an entertaining, 20-minute tale. Learn about the life and times of The Old Mill every Thursday starting July 4, at 10 a.m. at The Gazebo.
Pecan Pie, Every Day
July 12th is National Pecan Pie Day. But we wouldn’t dream of limiting our love of it to one day a year. In fact, we pride ourselves on serving the best pecan pie in Tennessee at The Old Mill Restaurant. Or for all you chocolate lovers out there, try our version made with chocolate chips at the Pottery House Café.
Our Favorite All-American Summer Recipes
Best-selling cookbook author and native Tennessean, Anne Byrn, has expanded our kitchen-tested recipe collection to include some of her own Southern-inspired favorites. They’re guaranteed to make July gatherings that much tastier, so try her Strawberry Field Salad, Oven-Fried Chicken, and a fresh, new version of Flag Cake that’s as pretty as it is patriotic.
Come join us for summer fun you won’t soon forget, filled with the simple pleasures of the season.
